Just 45 miles east of Raleigh and conveniently located halfway between New York and Florida on I-95, Wilson is a convenient stop for travelers to pause and refresh. Just a few minutes from the Whitehead Inn, a newly restored train station welcomes Amtrak travelers to downtown Wilson. The following sites and organizations attract visitors to the area for a variety of activities and events:

Restaurants Wilson is fortunate to have a number of excellent locally owned restaurants including Jacs Grill, Quince and Bill Ellis' Barbecue .  These, and others, provide our guests an alternative to the standard chain fare.

Wilson Bridge Tournament  Scheduled for the weekend of March 5-7, 2010, this event will bring together the areas best bridge players for an exciting and highly contested weekend of cards.  Special rates are available at The Whitehead for those playing or just attending.

Barton College   A fully accredited, four-year, private, co-ed , liberal arts college, Barton was founded in 1902 and welcomes 1,200 students from 31 states and 16 foreign countries to a campus on 74.5 acres. Barton offers a wide array of cultural opportunities and supports 12 athletic teams.

Antique District Along the Hwy 301 corridor, dozens of unique antique stores and warehouses attract interior designers and customers from all over the world.

The Edna Boykin Cultural Center  Located in the center of historic Wilson this beautifully renovated 1919 vaudeville theater provides live performances through the Boykin Series.

Imagination Station   A “hands-on” science museum for all ages. Imagination Station offers daily science and outreach programs as well as special workshops and provides unique educational opportunities for students and families.

Wilson Tobs Baseball  As members of the Coastal Plains League. the Tobs and fellow league members bring together the best amateur college players from across the country each year.  Many have gone on to both minor and major league careers.  Their season runs from May 27th to August 10th.
